John Ryan

Obituary of John Ryan

RYAN, John "Jack" V. With his usual stoicism and dignity, John fought for a year against cancer and passed away at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto on Friday, January 8th, 2010. John is survived by his loving brother Charles Raymond Ryan of Windsor, Ontario, his niece Jean Louise, his nephews Robert William, George Raymond, John Kenneth and Douglas Edward. John will also be dearly missed at the table of lively discussion by his extended family of friends and associates who enjoyed his dry wit and keen outrage while debating life's many absurdities and inequities. John spent many years as a producer/director with the CBC where he brought his creative and versatile talents to a diverse range of programs, from "Man Alive" to numerous series for the Children's department. He was especially happy when working with Bob Homme, "The Friendly Giant." Friends will be received at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21. If desired, please send donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
