Obituary of Hannah Hobbs
Hannah Audrey Hobbs
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing into God's Hands of Hannah Audrey Hobbs (nee Spanswick) on January 8, 2010 at the Toronto Western Hospital, at the age of 83. Loving wife to The Rev. Canon W. Ebert Hobbs for 60 years; devoted mom to Deb (John), Illinois, Chris (Sue), Guelph, Roxanne (Gary), Brighton, and Kim (Ron), Australia; proud grandma ("Nana") to Bronwen, Jennifer, Erin, Theresa, Christopher, John, Rachael, Gary, Megan and Nathan; delighted great-grandma to Ethan, Isaac and William, Audrey's family was her greatest joy. Audrey was born on January 29, 1926 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, daughter of Walter and Elsie Spanswick. She was a faithful, life-long member of the Anglican Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, Youth Worker, member of the Woman's Auxiliary, Mother's Union, Chancel Guild, St. Paul's Prayer Connection and, most noteworthy, the dedicated wife of an Anglican priest. She enjoyed listening to music, reading, gardening and family get-togethers. Audrey worked in administration at St. Luke's Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio, and at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. She had a wonderful sense of humour and a great passion for life that she has passed on to her family. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 11. A service of celebration and thanksgiving for Audrey's life will be held on Tuesday, January 12 in ST. PAUL'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 227 Bloor Street East, Toronto at 2:00 p.m. If so desired, the family has requested that you consider a donation to St. Paul's Heritage Fund (M4W 1C8). Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
