Obituary of Martha Jane Moses

MOSES, JaneIt is with deep sadness, that the family of Jane Martha Moses (nee Hackshaw) announce her passing on December 24, 2009 at the Sunnybrook Veteran's Residence, Toronto, Ontario. Jane and her husband Arthur Moses (1918 - 2004) were married for 59 years and had somewhat of a celebrity marriage in England as they were both performers for The Royal Canadian Navy's musical review "Meet The Navy", during World War 2. Jane, a dancer and Leading Wren and Arthur, a violinist and Leading Bandsman were both very proud of having met the Queen during their service for their country. Jane was a loving mother to Diana Schacher, Ken Moses and the late Donald Moses and will be deeply missed by daughter-in-law, Georgia. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and adoring nieces, Patricia and Nancy. Jane was born in 1915 to Cecil and Angus Hackshaw but never knew her father as he died fighting for his country during World War I. Her late brothers and sisters included her twin sister, Carrie Endsley, Margaret, Cecil, Pat Hackshaw and very much loved sister, Edna Langley, her only surviving sibling. The family would like to extend their warmest thanks to Dr. Susan Dearing, the nurses and all of the staff at The Veteran's Residence for the wonderful care and support shown to Jane and family. Also, thanks to Jacqueline, Mario and Zinny for the special care they gave Jane as her friend. Jane was very brave and courageous right until the end and the beauty of her love, generosity and deep devotion to her family will be cherished. Jane and Arthur were long time members of The Church of Transfiguration. The Family will receive friends at HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Ave., Toronto, ON (416) 487-4523, at 2 p.m. for visitation on Wednesday, December 30. Service to follow at 3 o'clock.
