On behalf of our dear father, we would like to send our heartfelt condolences to you Auntie Viv, Heather, Mark, Tracy and family. Unfortunately, Dad's trip overseas was not timely and Dad will be unable to attend the services today. When Dad does receive word,we know he will be heartsick and will wish so much he could have been there with you- Don has been his very best friend and truly was his best man. He valued his lifelong friendship so very much. Before Dad's departure, Kar and I had the opportunity to reminisce with Dad about Uncle Don. We recalled the laughter and fun you shared on your weekend visits to Perth -evenings you never wanted to end. We also spoke of Uncle Don's quest to add to his already "extended" vocabulary we appreciated so much and how you have both been there for us time and time again during our times of grief. It is our hope that Uncle Don will join our precious Mother to resume those good times you shared. Please know Dad's thoughts are with Uncle Don and the family. We will all miss him terribly. Sincerely with Love, Gerry Taylor, Karen Taylor-Murphy, Carole Mather (Taylor), and Family

I won’t forget Don in a hurry, I doubt I’ll forget him at all. We shared a love of irony that allowed many amusing moments to be enjoyed with a modicum of language. A nod would do to signal the other that we’d both got the joke. Neither will I forget his competitiveness. He was as justifiably proud of his service to the lawn bowling section at the RCYC as he was of his yeoman service to Commodore Gyles and ‘Norseman’, one of the club’s magnificent 8 metres. Don believed that if a game’s worth playing it’s worth playing well and to the letter of the law. This caused occasional consternation amongst some, less disciplined players, but that wouldn’t deter Don from his credo. Being competitive has gotten itself mired down with all the tawdry misdoings of professional sport. But Don was of an earlier breed for whom being known as a gentleman amateur was a high compliment. Don deserves that compliment and more. May he rise in glory.

We wish to extend to the family our deepest sympathy for your loss of a loving husband and father. We lived in Toronto for 35 years but didn't know the Hallidays also lived in the city and we are sorry for that. My memories of Don and his brother Cal go back to the mid 1940's when we attended Nutana Collegiate in Saskatoon. I still have my four "Hermes" yearbooks and have found Don and his classmates in a picture taken in the 1944-45 book. My best friend, Wilf Godfrey was a classmate of Don's that year. We also knew Donna Barclay and her family who lived in Shaunavon Sask and were related to the Hallidays. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time Dick Moody
