Please accept my sincere condolences. I was a patient of Dr. Higgins for many years until his retirement. I have profound respect for him and the professional manner in which he monitored my health over at least 3 decades. I saw him last this year at the Hospital where we shared a very nice moment after which I had intended to contact and tell him once again how I had appreciated his care and concern over the years. I did not do it in time. He provided me with a story I have told many, many times regarding just what a wonderful doctor he was. I was do to receive a radio active iodine treatment and go as one normally does into isolation for 3 days. I shared my concern about this isolation and some claustrophobic feelings I had begun to have. Your father/husband was sympathetic but did not give away the fact that he planned to come back early from skiing to sit with me on a Sunday for 20 minutes. I have never forgotten this and how much it meant to me. He has let a lasting legacy in many ways. Paul Unterman

Dear Peter and Family, Joe and I send are deepest sympathy for the passing of your father. We are sorry we can not give our condolences in person as we are off to Newfoundland early tomorrow. Your father was a great man and a great doctor. I will always remember his handsome face when he came in to visit me at St. Michael's to tell me that I was alright. May the love and care that he extended to all sustain him eternally in rest and peace. Warmest regards, Marcella and Joe Tanzola

Dear Mrs. Higgins and Family, Please accept my sympathy on the death of "Hub" and my promise of prayers for the repose of his soul, and also for you in your loss. I last saw him about 15 months ago when we were applying at the same time for the 80+ years drivers license--we both passed! "Hub" was an extraordinary person, a model for us all. May the Faith we shared with him and the memories of his good life be a source of consolation and strength to you now. I have offered Mass for him yesterday morning and hope circumstances enable me to be present for the funeral Mass in St. Basil's church. God bless! frbobmaddencsb
