Obituary of Margaret Korossy

KOROSSY, Margaret (Grete) Passed away peacefully, following a brief acute illness, on Thursday, August 13, 2009 in her 98th year, with her family at her side, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph, her parents Emma (nee Schindler) and Jozsef Stefka and sisters Helen and Mariann. She is survived by her daughter Marika, son-in-law Robert Parsons and cousin Eva Wack (Budapest). Born in 1912, the turbulence of two wars, depression and a revolution each played pivotal roles in shaping her life. She assumed the responsible role of family provider following her father's death when barely out of her teens and that devotion and responsibility to family were a hallmark of her long and productive life. Nothing speaks more clearly of her mettle than the courage and grace with which she met and overcame countless adversities, sustained by faith and an exceptionally happy 52 year marriage. While the last 13 years without her husband were a great trial, she faced this phase of life with patience, kindness and gratitude to all who supported her. Her warmth and charm touched many during her long life and that is how those who knew and loved her will remember her. Funeral Mass will be held in ST. ELIZABETH OF HUNGARY ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 432 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto on Friday, August 21, at 6:30 p.m. Private interment. If friends so desire, donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Of Hungary Roman Catholic Church (M2N 3B7). Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
