Obituary of Yolande Marie Byrnes

BYRNES, Yolande (née Tourangeau) Carried away by her Guardian Angel at Christie Gardens in Toronto, on Tuesday August 4, 2009, in her 86th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Raymond and son Michel. Beloved mother of Madeleine, Rod (his wife Juleth), Michel, Denise (her husband Martin), Brian (his wife Monica), and extended family Angela,Tamika and Scott. Proud grandmother of Serena, Dunia, Philippe, Alex, Gabrielle, Daniel, Julien and Danielle. Survived by her sister Marcelle, brothers Gérard, Jean-Marc and André, and predeceased by her sisters Gisele, Raymonde, Thérèse and Pierrette and brother Guy. Daughter of the late René Tourangeau and Corine Marier. Yolande was born on March 14th, 1923 in Montreal. Between the ages of 15 and 19 both her parents died and Yolande, with her brother Jean-Marc took on the responsibility of raising their siblings. In 1947 she married her true love Captain Raymond Byrnes. After raising five children, Yolande returned to work, including 10 years working as an assistant to a number of federal government Cabinet Ministers. Yolande had a passionate commitment to constant learning and justice and a love for music and dancing. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday August 14. A memorial tribute will be held in the ROSEDALE ROOM of the Humphrey Funeral Home on Saturday, August 15, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Special thanks to the caring staff at Christie Gardens and Smart Staffing.
