Dear Julie - My sincere condolences for the totally untimely loss of one of the kindest, caring, open hearted and welcoming people I have ever known. Over the past ten years Bob took both Geoff and me into his circle of friends, then you and he took us into your home, introduced us to your family and friends and wined dined us. As the years went on he opened his hand in friendship to other members of the Australian team at PDAC and introduced us further into his Toronto circles of friends and associates, always with his big grin and sincere welcome. When I read Andrew's email yesterday my heart sank as Bob was to me the warmth and friendship that over rode the Canadian winter chill of March and allowed us to experience a home away from home. Please keep in touch - with hugs and best wishes for the future - Tony

Dear Julie, I am deeply saddened, having just heard of Bob's passing and wish to pass on my heartfelt condolences to you on your loss. His warmth, abounding generosity, strength of spirit and sense of fun will be enduring memories. Bob was one of the last great characters who enriched the lives of so many. I will never forget the evenings at your home, the dinners during your visits to Tasmania and even the consternation when I accidentally let Puss out. His and your hospitality over many years provided welcome warmth that overcame the chill of Toronto winters. I hope that countless happy memories are helping sustain you at this sad time. With my warmest regards and deepest sympathy, Geoff Green

Dear Seagram Family, I wish to express my sincere condolences to your family. I met Bob and the Seagram family here in Kitchener when we were both boys in the late 1940's. I had not seen Bob since the late 1960's but have many good memories of Bob and his family which I cherish. When I think of Bob, I remember the family gatherings and the family's three black labrador retrievers that ruled the Seagram home in Kitchener and vacation home in Huntsville. I knew Cam and Shirley had passed away. I regret that I did not contact Bob at that time to express my condolences and reminisce. I hope that good memories of this special person will help you through this difficult time. Jim Tait

I just learned of Bob's death. I wept. We dated years ago - he intro'd me to Bob Copp, but only after we had spent many hours boating around Walker's Point and visiting his parents' place up on Penn?/Mary?Fairy? Lake. I bought my first I/O boat, second-hand, from Bob, throught his uncle. When he and Judy rented the "party place", I was there.....every weekend.Oh, those steaks: oh that superb green pepper/onion/mushroom accompaniment. We often joked I married the wrong Bob.....he was a dear, dear man. We drifted apart, but three years ago, there he was at my husband's funeral in Port Perry. A lovely, loving man. Generous/open-hearted, and great fun. I always hoped I'd see him again.....we don't, as human "beans", do a very good job of keeping in touch. Mea culpa. You will miss him terribly, for he was such a funny, fun-loving man. My heart goes out to you -his family- and I wish I had known sooner than today. He'll never be forgotten by this family......my kids remember his kindness three years ago. A wonder-filled man. Bless his spirit and his joy for living. Sincerely, Barb Copp (and, oh! the pictures I have of him!!! What a rogue!!)

Our sympathy to Julie and his family in their grief for losing him so soon - still shy of the three score and ten. To us he personified the phrase "Savour Faire" and we can just picture him upon arrival discussing the heavenly equivalent of oysters with his longtime client and close friend Paul White who passed away last year at 105.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Bobby's passing. Bobby was known as "Uncle Bob" to everyone in our family. He was an absolutely wonderful man; so full of life. I have known Bobby for close to 40 years. He was a best friend to my dad, JB White. I have such fond memories of time spent with Bobby up at the cottage with "Mumsie" or dinner parties at his house on Summerhill Ave. Bobby loved a good laugh, great company, fine wine and fun in the kitchen. He used to go with my Dad to the St. Lawrence Market early on a Saturday morning. Bobby was such a special man and always so kind to me over the years; especially after my Dad's passing. I live in Vancouver so have not seen as much of Bobby as I used to. However, he was always in my thoughts. I express my deepest condolences to Bobby's family and a big hug for Julie and Chris who know me quite well. My thoughts are with you at this very difficult time.
With love, Carolyn Shrimpton (White)

Julie: Bob and I go back over 40 years to our days together as youngish brokers at Wills Bickle. Along with long departed buddy Richard Robinson, Bob and I enjoyed more than a few liquid lunches at the Beau Nash Room of the Lord Simcoe Hotel. We also enjoyed hoodwinking coworkers in the Board Room after a stressful trading day, in a game of Liar's Dice. I have been in regular email and phone contact with Bob from Ottawa for the past several years, and was planning to visit with you two this summer. Alas, too late! My best regards. Jeremy Colman

Dear Julie; Nonnie telephoned me a moment ago from Muskoka with the shocking and sad news of Bob's death. I came down to Osgoode this morning before the Globe was delivered, and I am sorry for not writing to you before now. We will both miss him terribly. We were so looking forward to seeing more of you both, now that we have again found a place in Wyndemere, although contrary to Bob's very strong advice, in Villa Floresta. You are right; it was far, far too soon. I had a ton of things to ask him arising out of our nice long chat at the reception for Shirley, and now I will have to simply add them to the very fond memories I have of him. At the moment, I can't think of anything to say other than how very sorry and upset I am that he has left us. You are in our thoughts and prayers. sincerely John

I was so sorry to hear of Bobby's passing. He was very kind to me and was a close friend of my father and all of his family. He spent time with my Dad and my sister Janet in Maine and he sold me my first car when I was first married. My father's last trip to Florida was with Bobby. I am hoping to attend the memorial unfortunately I am out of town but am trying to make it down tomorrow. If I am not there in person, my deepest sympathy. Hamish
