Obituary of Gordon Anderson
Gordon Ronald Anderson
WWII Veteran
Gordon passed away on Sunday, July 5th, 2009 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, with his beloved wife, Audrey at his side. Gordon loved life and showed it in so many ways - his winning smile, his friendy demeanor, his love of travel. Undeterred by a serious stroke in 1988, Gordon went on to join the exercise club at the North York "Y" and was an inspiration to many. Predeceased by his parents, five brothers and one sister. He is also survived by his brother Charles (Andy), his sister-in-law Grace and a number of very special nieces and nephews. Born in Saskatchewan, he served with the Canadian Army overseas for 5 ½ years, and on his return to Canada, he joined the Canadian National Railway, was transferred to Toronto in 1953, retired in 1985. Audrey and Gordon spent many happy years traveling overseas, and to their favourite spot, Bermuda. Words cannot express how much you will be missed Gord - by Audrey - the heart is heavy - and by your many friends. Love you Gord. A special thank you to the doctors and the nursing staff at K1C who helped us through this difficult time. A memorial service will be held in the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Thursday, July 9th at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the Rosedale Room. Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations made to a favourite charity of one's choice would be appreciated. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
