I am very saddened to know that James is gone. It is hard for me to believe that it's been almost 9 years since I met James. He was a great boss and a good man. Lauren, I want to tell you how sorry I am that he is gone. He loved you so much and he spoke of you often. You were the centre of his life, his biggest joy. He is missed.

I am so saddened to learn this news. James was a good friend and I will miss him. In speaking with him just last Friday, he was looking forward to new beginnings. We enjoyed many laughs during our international travel for Celestica. Lauren, your dad loved you dearly. Know in your heart that he will always be with you. ~ Richard Deklerk, Markham, Ontario

I was saddened to learn of the passing of James. To us here in Cape Breton he was Jimmy, I have many memories of James' summers here with his parents. It seems we lose touch as we get older but we never forget. LYNN James cousin

My deepest sympathy on the passing of James. I was so sorry to hear about it this week. I worked with James for many years at both IBM and Celestica in the IT area where I first remember him. He always had the best wry humour and wit and the deadpan delivery, until at the very end you would see his smile after he had got you. The highest compliment to his effectiveness was that you were very proud if you passed one of his audits of your computer application with only minor changes required. He had extremely high standards and did his best to drag us up to his level of excellence. One of his proudest moments was when Lauren was born. I remember he came into work without his hairpiece. Everyone was trying hard not to say something to James about it but all you could see was this gleaming forehead. And I will never forget what he said - that he wanted to be the first one to yank it off his head rather than wait for baby Lauren to do it. James was a proud and honourable man and I will always have good memories of him.

When I first met James back in the 1980's, he was a University student. He was often at my house for dinner over the years and the last time I saw him was a couple of years ago. He spoke constantly about his love for his daughter, Lauren, and how proud he was of her. He spent a good part of his visit outlining her accomplishments and the love and pride he had for her just shone through his whole being. Lauren - you were always in his heart.

It is with great sadness that I type this email as I will truly miss your father. It is hard to believe that 10 years have passed since we first met and I must say these 10 years were filled with great memories. We had so many great laughs and I am truly smiling as I type thinking about the many different jokes and stories and events that we shared. He was a great person to work with and was a great friend. Lauren...you were so loved by your father and were the centre of his universe. My condolences on your loss but please always remember the blessing of having such a loving and proud father.

I have many fond memories of James' wit and humour throughout the 20 years that we worked together. I still remember the first day he started at IBM. I'm so saddened and shocked to hear about his passing, he was much too young. Everyone who knew James liked him as someone who was smart, direct, funny and full of surprises. May he rest in peace and as his family, find comfort in all the good things he shared with us in his lifetime.

I remember meeting James over 20 years ago at IBM. At first meeting he seemed so serious, but looks can be deceiving. James had a wonderful sense of humour and could get a room laughing. I had the honour of working with him under the same manager and it was a wonder anyone got work done with his quick wit which could keep us all laughing. I remember when Lauren was born. I went over to his house and there was James, beaming and holding his daughter so proudly. Throughout the years James spoke very highly of his daughter's accomplishments and how she was the true love in his life. Lauren, know that he always spoke of you with so much love and pride. I will always have fond memories of James.

...not too much opportunities to met 'face to face'.... so far Celestica Italy from Toronto... but enough to have known a man even before an employee... a friend more than a colleague... Ciao James, God bless your soul.... Vanni from Milano, Italy
