It is so sad to hear the news of Jo Ann's passing. We had been in touch with Jo Ann through Facebook. It was the first contact since graduation day. Shortly after the Facebook contact is when Jo Ann advised me she had cancer.
It is too bad that we lose touch with our friends over time but I guess that is the way it is.
I remember the good old times growing up and school activities. We need to keep the awesome memories alive in our hearts and minds.
Even though we were apart from Jo Ann for all those years we often spoke about, " I wonder where Jo Ann (and others as well) is these days"?
No doubt she will be missed for sure. I know she is in Heaven today though and she is enjpying the presence of God in a far better way that we can hope to here.
For those of us who read this message please let it be a lesson to us that we can see her again someday if we are right with God.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Joann. I hadn't seen her in almost 10 years. We lived and worked together in St. John's, NL in the mid-80's. I had visited her (and Chris) on a couple of occasions in Toronto but lost touch. Condolences to her Mom, Dad, Eddy, Susan and Keith. Chris - your heart must be terribly heavy. God speed. Brenda

To the Butler family: sending deepest sympathies to you all in the passing of JoAnn this week. JoAnn and I did our college years together at St. John's and she was a true friend and we shared many fun times. It's hard to believe all those years have passed! Take courage knowing she's with someone who loves her more than we can understand. From Eileen, and the whole Anstey (Hubert/Minnie) family, our prayers and thoughts are with you.

TO: Amy, Susan, Eddie, Keith and Family, So sorry that we cannot be with you to share in your bereavement, but be assured of our thoughts and prayers. We will miss JoAnn's visit when she came home to Summerford. I (Mona) have so many little things that she would send or bring me; JoAnn will be fondly rememberd by us. We we so happy to know that she committed her life to Jesus, who now has taken her to heaven, for "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." We look forward to seeing her when Jesus returns for those who love Him. All our love,

To: Eddie, Keith, Susan and especially Aunt Amy, I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through right now. Just wish I could be there to give you my love in person. Jo Ann was such a gentle and kind person. I'm so glad that I got reconnected with her just a few months ago on facebook. It brought back a lot of memories of our "growing up" years! I'm sure you will miss her terribly in the days to come. I wish I could help heal the pain. I can only tell you that I will be thinking much about you all and I will be remembering you in my prayers. Love, Garry & Ina

To Chris, Ruben, and the Butler family, We were so sorry to hear of JoAnn's passing. The last time we saw JoAnn was during a visit with Chris and Ruben in 2004. Jo Ann exemplified all that is good and descent. She beat this disease in so many ways and remained defiant and brave throughout. As she said I'm from down East and we don't give up easily." She now watches over us as we toil in this viel of tears. May God bless and comfort you in the knowledge that she is free of her pains and sickness and watches over her family.
