I cannot believe e it has been almost 10 years since Nancy's passing. I worked for Nancy in the late 90s and early 2000 when she was tasked with the role of merging and integrating Women's College, Sunnybrook, and Orthopedic and Arthritic Hospitals. It was a fly by your seat time, but Nancy was incredibly generous with her time and I viewed her as an incredible mentor. Humour and humility were her incredible traits.
I had heard she passed away which was a shock to me after I moved to the east coast and some years later to be honest. I realize it has been 10 years, but please do accept my sincerest condolences, Nancy was a real joy to work for and with over our brief period together.

It is just today that I learned of Nancy's death and am deeply sorry to hear of the loss of such a fine person. I knew Nancy through Bereaved Families of Ontario, where she shared her compassion, wisdom and leadership skills to help direct the organsation and support many individuals (myself included). Nancy was truly an inspiring person. I was always impressed by Nancy's humour, positive outlook on life and wonderful empathetic spirit. My thoughts go out to her dear husband and daughters. I know she was so loved by you all and you by her. Her shining spirit will always be there to support and comfort you.

To the Malcolm Family: I had the pleasure and honour of working with Nancy for a very few weeks between the time that Women's got its independence back, and the time that Nancy got sick. They were the most wonderful weeks -- because of Nancy! Can you imagine a boss who could dress you down and make you feel pumped up and valued, all at the same time? That was your Nancy. That culture that everyone treasured at Women's? That was your Nancy. That lady who could swear like a longshoreman and still sound like Emily Post? That was your Nancy. Knowing her and having worked with her is a memory I will treasure for the rest of my life. My heartfelt sympathy to all of you for a loss of a unique life that can never be replaced. From Naomi Rose

My heart and prayers go out to Nancy's family. Although we never met, I was fortunate to be introduced to Nancy in November of 2008 shortly after I was diagnosed with Acute AML leukemia. She became my telephone support and we enjoyed many chats and shared many laughs. Nancy gave me hope when I was at my lowest. I specifically remember when Nancy was prepping me for my visit with the bone marrow doctors at Princess Margaret Hospital. Oh what a gifted woman. The knowledge she shared, gave me the courage I lacked. I will miss her terribly and will always remember her with the utmost of fondness. Thank you dear family members for sharing such a beautiful lady with me! Sincerely, Alexandra Tesluk Gibson

I had the privilege of being one of Nancy's teachers at the Atkinson School at TWH. It was evident from the beginning that she would be a leader in the nursing profession. She showed her great sense of integrity even as a first year student. I followed her professional career with great pride as a fellow nurse educator. My condolences to the family. Barbara Harris RN.,M.H.Sc. Professor Emeritus Ryerson University.

Barry, I was saddened today to learn of Nancy's passing and the loss that you and your daughters must feel. Please find comfort in knowing that you are not alone as we have all lost someone special who walked among us for too short a time. She was a great role model to me and a wonderful supporter of so many woman's health initiatives but most of all, her smile was infectious and her spirit so strong. My prayers are with you.
