I am a docent (guide) at the AGO and had the pleasure of knowing your father for a number of years. He was a regular member of our Friday group, Artful Conversation. I toured the group on many occasions and recently did two tours with them, including your father, to our current Holman Hunt exhibition. Wilkie very much enjoyed participating in our tours, discussed pieces we toured and was a well-liked member of the group. The last time I toured the group, I commented to him on how well dressed he always was. He told me that his love of clothing came from his father who, I believe, had lived on a farm, and we talked briefly about where he bought his clothing. I saw the Obituary in the Globe on Friday. Coincidentally, I had to be in the Gallery on Friday and went into the Cafe where many of the Artful Conversation members were having lunch. Your father always had his lunch there on the Fridays the group met. I showed them the obituary and we spent some time talking about Wilkie. The group will miss him as will all of the docents and education staff who had known him. He was a true gentleman. I am glad that he was able to see the new AGO building. I had not known of his involvement with Timothy Eaton Church. Now that I do, I am sure the Holman Hunt exhibit was quite meaningful to him in that the Church has a stained glass window depicting Hunt's most famous painting, "The Light of the World". My condolences to the family. Phyllis Couzin

My sincere condolences to "Wilkie's" family. I received a phone call from a mutual friend informing me of our dear friend's passing and was deeply saddened to hear the news. It was so sudden. I recently spoke with Wilkie via telephone and we had a great chat. I have known Wilkie for over 23 years and worked with him in the hardware business. I will always remember him as a true friend, a gentleman, a perfectionist and a person with beautiful penmanship. God Bless. Sincerely, Edwin (Eddy) Hawley.

To the Family of Mr. Henderson, Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. Although I did not know his name we often shared an elevator ride and many pleasant conversations while he lived at 22 Close Avenue. He was a kind and gentle man and I will miss our conversations and seeing him walking down the street with his grocery bags and trench coat. He often reminded me of my own father not in appearance but in manner and bearing. I know that he will be missed by others in the building and I hope the thought that he is remembered by many others for his kindness, courtly manners and his dapper look is some comfort to you all. With my deepest sympathies, Lise Payne
