Joan Norris was our across-the-street neighbour for many years. She and Art and Colin were an active part of a close-knit neighbourhood where all the parents knew all the kids...and vice-versa...and all the kids felt safe. Joan was one of the reasons for that. She was kind, always had a cheery greeting for anyone who passed her door and made every child in the neighbourhood feel that they had a grown-up friend. We left the neighbourhood and Toronto almost twenty years ago, but managed to stay in touch through our notes in annual Christmas cards keeping up-to-date with the goings-on of our children. We are saddened by Joan's death and we extend our condolences to Colin and their family. Penny and John Kennedy and family

Please accept my condolences. Joan was a volunteer in my classroom at Bloorview for several years. It was a joy to have her around. The children loved her and I always looked forward to her sunny attitude. May your memories be long. Sincerely, Sherri deMontmorency
