I so vividly remember this young couple, fresh out of Queens, who moved in across the street from us in Oakville all those years ago. Charlie was a larger than life type of guy. A proper engineer - Quis Dolor Qui Dolium was a very appropriate motto. Confident and competent - and always just that little bit more, if it meant having more fun. A great family man. He and Kathy brought their children up the right way - with respect and decency. My children still referred to them as Mr Kosa and Mrs Kosa well into adulthood! 35 years of friendship - not day-by-day to be sure - for we have lived in other parts of the world for much of that time. But that easy kind of relationship that you can slip in and out of at a moment's notice: Roaring around Toronto in a bright red corvette (just for the hell of it.) Lazy evening dinners at the RCYC. Killing a bottle of scotch at a Frankfurt airport hotel. Sailing in Corsica - not our finest time! The last time I saw Charlie, he was enthusiastically promoting some gee-whiz gizmo on a racing motorbike over here in the UK. These are some of the memories that I will hold on to. I can hardly believe that he is gone, but wherever he is, he is enlightening his surroundings. Go well Charlie. We love you. Hum

Dear Kathy, I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Though I never met your husband, Charles, I do remember your pleasure in describing for me his search for a setting. That is, for the lovely necklace you wore the evening of an HC reunion. (I think it was at the restaurant 'il pesto'.) I remember thinking, then, how lucky you were to have a thoughtful husband, a memory reinforced upon seeing him briefly when he came and picked you up. So Kathy, my point is, few are lucky to have the combination of a great love and a good working relationship in their lives. You, my friend, are fortunate in that respect. May the good memories carry you and your family forward during this difficult time. In the meantime, should you ever pass through 'the other' London (a move last August after 25 years in Toronto), I hope you'll get in touch. I'd love to have you over. My heartfelt sympathies, Sydney Hedderich 58 Masonville Cresc. London, Ontario N5X 3T2 Tel. 519-963-1449

Dear Katherine, Jackie, our office manager at the Legal Services Branch, Health, just emailed the office and gave us this very sad and shocking news. When you were at the Legal Branch, you did a massive job on Bella Fox's files and we got quite a bit accomplished. I am very sad and grieved at your loss to cancer of your beloved husband. Katherine, please accept my very sincere condolences to you and your dear family and children at this very tremendous loss of their father and your beloved husband. I am not sure if you heard but not too long ago we lost our colleague, Ken Kagan, Counsel at the Branch, again at a very young age, to cancer. Please accept my prayers at this time of loss and grief for you and please be strong for the sake of your family and yourself. You now have to be both father and mother to your children. May the lord bless Charles soul. Be strong. Our wishes and prayers from the Legal Branch are with you at this time of your loss. Tajinder Sehmi (former secretary at Legal Branch, Health)

Most sincere and heartfelt condolences to you all, Kosa Family. Forever will I cherish all of those wonderful memories of fantastic times with Charles: awesome flights and equally spectacular control wire airplane crashes at the OT field in Oakville, some glorious and crisp winter days in the country (and Wrath of Kahn on the TV), heartbeat quickening drives, beautiful evenings sailing and the Resopal experience. Always with a smile and always ready to share a good time! We are so fortunate to have shared some time. A rare person indeed and one who will be terribly missed.

Charles and I worked together for only a short time. I admired his zest for life and dedication to his craft. Charles was a very smart man and yet not arrogant. He had qualities that did not intimidate but made one feel that there was much to be learned from him. I traveled to Atlanta with Charles and we visited the International Woodworking Fair. I very much enjoyed his company and insight and the way he could explain technical details in a clear and concise manner. I was fortunate to be able to visit with Charles shortly before his passing. I will cherish that time and I will miss him very much. Sincerely, Robert A. Law

To the Kosa Family, I was saddened to hear of your loss. Charles had a true love of life and I was blessed to get to know him during our years working at Coe. He was always positive and always ready for a new challenge or adventure which made him a great person to work and travel with. He was very proud of James, Daisy, and Patrick, I know he missed you and Katharine also while he was in Ohio or traveling and you were in Toronto, he talked about you often. My son still remembers Charles’ kindness when they met, even though Graham was only 5 at the time. Mrs. Kosa McLeod, I am truly sorry. Your son was a very special person. May God be with you all during this time. Clint Spangler

Dear Katharine, James, Daisy and Patrick, Our hearts are broken for you. Charles was a most positive and joyful man. Who else would have taught my James to spin a car on gravel? I remember all the fun we had when you lived in town here and with the visits up there. I will miss him, we all will. Please know we are praying for you as you all walk through this difficult change in all your lives. Patrick, you will make your dad proud, you have so much of his heart in you. I know life will be different now for everyone yet you are such a wonderful family. I am sure that the family bond of love and enthusiasm will carry you through each moment in the months ahead. May your family continue in the blessings of life even in the hours of death. Connie Hecker and family
