My condolences to Barb's family on this incredibly sad news. Like Bill Somerville I was both a Whitney schoolmate and CJC classmate. We exchanged emails and photos back in 2004 but I had not heard much from her in subsequent years. I played basketball against her in the gym/cafeteria at Whitney (fierce competitor she was), skied with her in Europe several times and we partied and laughed together in different decades. Her lively, fun and tell it like it is personality will not be forgotten by me. God Bless. -Mark Wessels, St. John's, NL

Dear Burke, Losing one child is an horribly unfair and unspeakable sadness. It's also so very hard on siblings at any age. Another such loss is an agony beyond words. May you and your family find comfort in time to come from God, each other, and friends. Arthur Langley . . . Maine USA

Dear Burke & Members of the Seitz Family, We were so terribly saddened to learn of Barbie's sudden passing. It has been many years since we last spoke but her bubbly personality will remain in our memory. Distance keeps us from being with you tomorrow, however, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Burke, Bobby, Joanne, Lawrence and the rest of the Seitz family, I was completely devastated when Peri informed me of Barbie’s passing. My memories of Barbie are happy memories and I will always treasure them. In my eyes, Barbie and Peri were as close to being sisters as friends can get and I always thought of Barbie as part of our family. Hopefully Barbie has found the Peace that she sought and truly deserves. I also hope that it is some small consolation to you to know that so many of us share your grief at this time. Dear Burke and the rest of the Seitz Family - I was so sorry to hear of Barb's passing. Through Virginia's work connection to Bobby, I'd reconnected with her a couple of years ago after a long hiatus. It was wonderful to chat and catch up, and to witness her new life taking shape via her blog. Although Barb was more "girl," and I, the ultimate tomboy, we managed to find our common ground as kids - despite attending different schools - and spent many a glorious playtime hour together. We kept each other company in the Roxborough gang as the only girls amongst a host of boys. I remember being very excited that Barb would be joining me at Whitney for grade 6, and particularly pleased to discover that she was in my class! Barb was a spark - effervescent and sincere; always fun to be with, and I will treasure my memories of her. Kathryn Morawetz

It was with shock and sadness that we read of Barb's passing. Especially so, since after 30 years, Barb contacted me through Facebook last November and asked to be my "Friend". I did reconnect through several posted notes on her wall and on occasion we would check her blog. Susan (nee Wilson) and I both knew Barb and shared a great experience at CJC in Lausanne '76-'77. We pass on our sympathies and condolences to the family. I have known Barb much longer, being in some of the same classes at Whitney Public school. I fondly remember a game of spin the bottle at Barb's house on Roxborourgh Drive during our grade 6 year, just down the street from where I lived. Here is hoping that Barb is at peace and that we'll remember her in life and the times we shared. A quote from Barb's CJC yearbook picture "Blow in her ear and she'll buy you a beer".
