Obituary of James Warnock
WARNOCK, James
November 4th, 2011 was a perfect fall day. It was the day that James Warnock chose to pass on from this life. For fourteen months, defying all odds and predictions, James inspired us all with his devotion to his family and his courage. At age sixteen, Jim's parents, Frank and Eleanor Warnock, moved the family to Ottawa. It was there, in high school, that Jim met his soul mate, Jeanne. Together they raised three wonderful children, Jessica, Abigail and Rory. Jim always said that his children were his greatest achievement and that Jeanne was his home. Jim undertook his honours bachelor's and master's degrees at Carleton University in Soviet and East European Studies. Following a year abroad in Hungary on a research exchange, Jim started law school at Queen's University. He articled in Toronto and worked in Vancouver and Toronto as a highly regarded tax lawyer with leading firms and, most recently as a partner with McCarthy Tétrault. Our family is heartbroken. Jim's siblings and their spouses, Eleanor Anne and John, Rory and Esther and Alex and Connie will miss Jim terribly, as will all of Jim's extended family, his friends and colleagues. We wish to thank the incredible medical team at the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care. Because of the work that you do, Jim and Jeanne were able to spend a year making the most of every day and each other. The Warnock family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11 and from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 12. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 4. If desired, donations may be made to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
