I met Mr. Near two years ago when I started working at A S & G. He was a wonderful person, so full of life. He tried to help any way he can. He was one of the funniest man who ever lived. My thoughts and prayers goes out to his family during this difficult time. Keep your heart strong.

On behalf of the Newmarket Eagles Cycling Club, I would like to offer sincere condolences to Ron's family and friends. Ron has been an active member of the club for many years; he was also a great supporter of the youth race conducted by the Cycling Club helping out with signage and contributing swag for the kids. He will be missed by all those lucky enough to know him.

To the Near Family. Our deepest sympathy to you all in this time of sadness. I have known Ron as a business associate and friend since the 70's on Church Street. A few years ago his Company moved next door to us on Midwest Road. Both Craig and I have fond memories of all our association with Ron. He was a true gentleman and friend. He will be deeply missed. From the stern taskmaster peering over his glasses as I presented my pricing for the coming year, to the twinkling eyes and impish grin as he spoke lovingly of his grandchildren. To Ron's family, I have many fond memories of cycling with Ron - in fact just a few weeks ago. We had done the Rideau Lakes tour a few years ago - one of his favourite rides. He will be missed by our cycling community.
