Dear Anne and family....our sincere sympathies on the passing of your Mom. What a beautiful obit you have written in the Globe all about Joan. It was so interesting to read that your Mom was in a Salvation Army Home. We attend and are involved our Salvation Army church here in Bracebridge. Elaine also told us all about the very touching, special tribute service at Timothy Eaton. Please know that you have all been in our thoughts and our prayers as you all grieve the loss of a dear Mom, Mother-in-law, Grandma etc. May God surround each of you with His loving arms...grant you His comfort....and His peace. With lots of love, hugs and blessings from Muskoka, Sallie and Richard xoxo

I am so sorry to read of Ms. Liningston's passing. I extend my condolences to her family and pray that you will be comforted by Jehovah's words in Isaiah 25:8 where he promises that death will be swallowed up forever.

Dear Bob I was sorry to read In The Globe the obituary for your mother. I would have liked to attend the funeral, but unfortunately I'm laid up at home, recovering from hip replacement surgery which has gone very well, but has slowed me down a bit. The obituary did justice to your mother's personality, as I remember her. She had a great sense of fun, and always give me the warmest welcome, those days of ball hockey and just hanging around on weekends. She was always fun to see because she was always interested in us, and what we were doing at school, and in our various interests. And there were some great times at your cottage at Lake Rosseau. We really had some great times together. My wife and I live in Oakville, and I'm still teaching high school and coaching debate. We would love to see you. Perhaps I'll see you at our 5 year reunion at UCC in the fall. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. I see in the obituary that your father died a few years ago, and now your mother. I've experienced the same losses. They are heavy, and they mark a huge change in the life of the family. We will be thinking of you. Yours warmly, Hamish Guthrie

Fifty or so years ago, Joan was my Sunday School teacher at Lawrence Park Community Church in Toronto. I remember her generous smile and encouraging words. Anne, we have not seen each other for many years, but maybe our paths will cross one day. Please accept our sympathy for the loss of your dear mother. Kathy (Lennard) and John Knowles
