Obituary of Robert Spratt

Our father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on December 19, 2008 at the age of 86. After a marriage of more than 50 years, he was predeceased in 1997 by his beloved wife Marge. Bob had a wonderful life. He attended Upper Canada College and in 1942 joined the R.C.A.F., serving as Flying Officer seconded to the R.A.F. Transport Command. After the war, he attended Osgoode Hall and became a very successful and highly regarded commercial real estate lawyer. For many years, he played golf and curled at Lambton Golf and Country Club and he spent more than 70 summers in Muskoka, most recently at Gregory Point on Lake Rosseau. Above all, Bob was the loyal and fervent supporter of his two sons and daughters-in-law Crawford and Wendy and Rob and Jane and their families. Bob will always be remembered as Bubba, especially to his eight grandchildren: Jamie (and his fiancée Kierstyn Ellis), Robin (and her huaband Justin Landry and their daughter Sadie), Susan, Charlie, David, Amy (and her husband Mike Tarasoff), Jon and Tim. He was a great fan of all his grandchildren's sports teams, proudly and enthusiastically cheering-on every team. Each of us will forever carry our own special memories of him, thanks to his wonderful and prolific photographic documentation of our lives, family occasions and hobbies. A private family service has been held. In memory of Bubba we ask all who knew him to think of him, just for a moment, the next time you "hoist a pail" or "quaff an ale". If you wish, donations may be made in Bob's name to the charity of your choice -- he would have appreciated that very much.
