Dear Barbara, Tom and Mary, I'm so sorry to learn of Janet's death. She was a wonderful human being, always so warm and funny and charming. I loved her very much - as did all the Donalds, my mother especially. James and I have so many Georgian Bay memories of her - in my mind's eye she will always be driving Tango in regal fashion. And I will always remember how she used to take me out to lunch with mum at the start of my holidays from school in the UK - so sweet of her, and something that made me feel very special. I'm very glad I saw her when I was last in Canada (15 months ago) and she met my daughter Lara. I was sorry to see how very diminished her life had become, but somehow, in spite of her health problems, her charm still shone through. Sorry to be so slow in sending you this - I've been meaning to write since I heard the news. I hope to see you when I'm next in Canada. Lots of love, Fiona

Dear Barb, Mary and Tom, Your mum was a dear friend of my mum, Roz Duffield Norris, a friendship forged in Bunny Camp and strengthened at Glen Bernard every summer. I was privileged to have had 'Aunt Janet' as my godmother. I loved her zany sense of humour, her hilarious and often inspirational finds in books, and admired her style and generosity of spirit. I particularily loved to see the two friends together. I will miss your dear mum. Sincerely, Anne

To Barb, Mary and Tom. I am so sorry to hear about your Mother. I have so many wonderful memories of your Mother. All the times she brought the family over to the main dock, the year the family hosted the Regatta Dance, the year your Mother was the host at the mock wedding, and finally, all those trips down to the gas dock. Your mother will be missed by all of us at the Greene's.

Dear Barb, Tom and Mary, I read the obituary notice with a smile knowing that I was fortunate to know this grand woman, your mother. You described her beautifully. She always extended such warmth and grace and made whoever she was speaking to feel as if they were special. This is a rare gift. One could also listen to her for hours as she told stories, and the ones she narrated of your various endeavors were told with a mother's love. I wanted to be there on Wednesday as her life is celebrated but it won't be possible. Thinking of you. Kathy

Barbara, Tom and Mary,I am so sorry to hear about your Mom, I have the most wonderful memories about the times I have spent with your family, making toffee, Barbara's birthday parties, Georgian Bay. Barbara, Mary & Tommy, So sorry to here about your Mom. The Zimmerman family and the Riggin family spent many happy hours together at Edgar/MacLennan. Janet always had time for the neighbourhood kids and their antics. Community and charity work always found her involved. She loved her cottage time and winter skiing. She will surely be missed. May you find peace and comfort in the love of those who care for you. With love Doreen, Peter & family.

Barb, Tom, Mary (and Kate in spirit) – What a life! Your mum was one of a kind. Generous to a fault. Caring. Interested in everything. The life of the party. And a loving mother, not only to the four of you, but to the throngs of friends each of you brought home – and to the various creatures that came along too - ducks, birds, dogs, cats, snakes, horses... Aunt Janet’s warmth was infectious. She took a genuine interest in anything we were doing, at school and in life. My memories of her are numerous – perched on her chair at the dock, skinny dipping on picnics, sharing stories of Glen Bernard, having cocktails with my parents, all the photos of her with each of you on the wall at the cottage... Your mum always greeted me with a smile and a big hello as if she hadn’t seen me in years, when it might have only been days. I will always hold a piece of her in my heart and will think of her every time I look across the water to your cottage.

With much sadness, I mourn with you the passing of Janet. She took over the ownership of my condo a long time ago and, from the moment we met, I realized what a remarkable woman she was; I couldnt have wished more for anyone who would love my home as much as she did. She was a regal and witty woman, possessing such grace and intelligence. I truly admired her --even moreso because she adored Mini! She will be missed.

Dear Mr. Zimmerman. I was sad to read that you have lost your dearest friend in life, yet gratified after meeting you even briefly that such a gentleman would enjoy for as many years as you have the company of someone of such beauty, talent and zest for life. Kindest regards. James Daw

Thinking of all the Zimmerman Family and sending love and sympathy. Just picturing Janet on the dock at Go Home welcoming all of us kids as we arrived, in her pigtails, camp hat and bathing suit ... She never seemed to age year after year. Her excitement for life rubbed off on everyone around her. Hold each other tight..... Sue and Family
