Dear Uncle Gordon, I am your sister Joan's daughter, your niece and goddaughter. Elizabeth (Betsy) Wilcox. I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Mary was a dear aunt and a beautiful woman. I remember the two of you visiting our family in Victoria and another year you and Mary stopped and visited my sister and her family on your way to Cape Cod. We had a wonderful evening together and as always you and Mary were the best of company. I will miss Aunt Mary's laugh, her smile and her good nature. She was a gem. You may not remember me, but sometime, when it's not so busy, maybe Fred or Alison will show you a photo to help you remember. With much love and affection, Elizabeth

Dearest, Fred, Meg and Alison, I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your mother and, for each of your partners and children, the loss of a dear mother-in-law and grandmother Mary and Uncle Gordon, in addition to being my last aunt and uncle, were my godparents. I know my parents, Joan and Bill, would have chosen them as godparents with care and the recognition of the fine people they both were. I cherish them both. I last saw Mary and Gordon at my sister Cathy's for dinner at her home outside Boston several years ago. It was a wonderful evening and I know your Mom was looking forward to seeing her old friend Hazel the next day as they carried on their journey I can easily picture Mary's face, the way she'd wink when she'd share her wonderful warm laugh. She was so easy to be with. She will be missed by all. Much love and affection, your cousin Elizabeth

To Fred, Meg and Alison My sympathy to you on the passing of your mother, Mary. My late husband Clare was the son of Harold (Bud) Stanley who was a brother to Frank Stanley, Gordon's father. Clare and I were at the wedding of Mary and Gordon all those years ago, and were also present at Gordon's 80th birthday party. Over the years our paths crossed, and we had enjoyable visits and conversations with Mary and Gordon. When my husband Clare passed away unexpectedly on Oct 31/2006, Mary and Gordon in company with the remaining Stanley family in Toronto area attended the memorial service here in Lucan. It was the last time that I have seen them, and I was aware that Gordon's memory was compromised. Mary was a lovely person to be with and we knew that she was involved in all of those things which were of interest to her. You will miss her terribly I know. My sincerest condolences to you and to your families. Lois Stanley 169 Stanley St. Lucan ON. NOM 2JO
