I was so sorry to read about Ron in the paper this morning. I will miss seeing his smiling face in the elevator at Barbara's condo. I know my Dad, Dick Lackey, who worked for Exxon enjoyed working with him and thought very highly of Ron. I send my deepest sympathy to you all and especially to Barbara, our neighbour.

I will always remember Ron as an outstanding individual-a brilliant man accomplished in business, education and public service whose ego needed no self gratification. A man who it was a distinct pleasure to work with because he valued your contribution and you knew he cared. I know he cared deeply for his family and will be sorely missed.

I was extremely sorry to see the sad news about Ron in this morning's paper. I knew him best through the Atlantic Council of which, if my memory is correct, he was the first president. I was the third president and he was a great help to me. He was always willing to provide excellent advice and his continuing commitment to the organization was an inspiration. He was particularly zealous in trying to get business people more involved with the world of public affairs and throughout his career he himself set a superb example of public service. He accomplished a lot for organizations such as the Institute for Research on Public Policy and the University of Guelph and, despite that, he was a very modest man. It was a great privilege to have known and worked with him.
