Dear Gord & Family, It is with profound sadness that we learned of the passing of Edith. While we only got to know her at the Grace Hospital (where my wife Toni is also a patient), we were touched by her kindness to Toni in the patients' lounge. And thank you Gord for your kindness. With deep-felt sympathy, John & Toni Balatinecz

Dear Gord, I learned from Tom (May) of Edith's passing and wanted to express my sincere condolences at this time of overwhelming sadness for you and your family. I lost my dear husband Doug, on October 1st and know just what you are going through. I didn't know Edith well but remember her at the cottage Andy, Jackie, Tom and I had rented one summer when you came up for the day and shared your scuba gear and experience with the rest of us. It was a fun day. I gave you a photo of that day when I came to an Alumni rehearsal with Tom in 2004. I hope that memory along with all the others you and Edith have gathered over the years, bring you some measure of comfort as you find the strength to get through the days and months to come. Sincerely, Maureen Bell ("Moe" - Tom's Ex)

Dear Gord, Karey & Kenneth, We are so sorry to hear about Edith’s passing. Edith touched so many lives! She never forgot a name or a face and would constantly amaze us with the things she would remember. She always had a kind thing to say and could always put a smile on my face. So many times she would go out to pick up something for lunch and she would surprise me with a penguin or an empire cookie because she knew how much I liked them. She always thought about other people. Sometimes we had to sit and pack hairnets. It was a tedious job and would take hours, but the time always seem to pass quickly because Edith and I would talk and she would regale us with stories about people, the company back when she started, the customers, but most of all, about her family. She was so proud of Karey and Kenneth, and even Manny. She was always willing to lend an ear, offer advice or just have a chat. I will forever hear her laugh and see her smile. Sending deepest sympathy and heartfelt thoughts, Melanie Boam, Andy Hunt, Zachary & Jamie Boam

Dear Gord, Kary and Ken, Please accept our deepest sympthy with Edith's passing away. To Elna and me it is almost unthinkable that she will not return. We still remember her cheery goodbye wave, that last Thursday that she worked. Edith always brought a positiveness and a laugh into Emerson Summers. Six years ago, she agreed to come back to the Company and from the moment of her return, everything was just lighter and better! I will always remember her for her extraordinary memory! Once she knew a name, it was trapped! Many a time the Company benefitted from her remembering the names and where she met old customers! It never failed to impress them and thus secured lasting ties for the Company! Lunch table is also empty. Edith always had a nice or funny story to tell during our shared lunch-hours. She is missed so dearly! We knew Edith could not stay for ever (That would have been fine with us!) but we still had so much to learn from her that her sudden departure left a huge void! Edith brought happiness into our lives and loyalty into our Company. We also came to know and at times worked with her wonderful family. This as also made possible by Edith. Gord, Kary and Ken, may you go forward and be blessed in what you do. May your lives also be the mirrors of Edith's beautiful legacy! With love Corrie and Elna

Dear Gord, Karey and Kenneth, We were very saddened to hear of Edith’s death. Our impromptu meetings with Edith and Yoda, over many years, were always fascinating and lots of fun. Long, wide-ranging conversations (sometimes so long the dogs gave up any thought of the walk they so wanted) that covered every topic imaginable and loud laughter often attracted a crowd of other dog-walkers. And when Jane was wondering as to the direction her life would take after graduation, Edith’s interest, enthusiasm, good advice, and encouragement helped Jane make the excellent decision to go to George Brown and take the Fashion Management course that Karey took. Edith was a joy to know and an integral part of our lives and the life of the neighbourhood. We will greatly miss her. Our thoughts are with you. Dick, Terry and Jane Hemingway
