Learned of Bill’s passing this Thursday evening and, as a result, to my considerable regret, I was unable to express my sympathy to you at his funeral this morning. Bill and I have been friends for some 45 years and much enjoyed our dinners in Toronto and the Cluff Hotels at 130 and 77 Carleton Street always provided a gracious welcome including dinners when I would be in Toronto for seminars provided by The Canadian Bar Association and The Law Society of Upper Canada. I will much miss Bill and his remembrances on birthdays and Christmas. I would much appreciate a telephone call at my office at 1-905-984-4366 as to Bill’s passing and I express my deepest sympathy. Bill and I have been pals since we met about 50 years ago while he was attending De La Salle. We did so much together over the years and though I moved away we always kept in touch and sang happy birthday to each other every year. Bill was the best dancer and even when we were 16 we would attend all the dances we could. We especially enjoyed going to Blessed Sacrament and St. Monica's As I was not Catholic, Bill taught me the Hail Mary, just in case they stopped me at the door and asked me a question. While he was working at the Hot Stove, I would hop in a cab and meet him every week. We went to many, many, restaurants and had so much fun together. I also remember going to the Hot Stove parties with Nick, Panno and all the fabulous staff, where we got to hone up our dancing skills. The night before I got married Bill went out to dinner with my girlfriends and I to George Bigliardi's and then he had us back to his place for Champagne. All of my memories of "Billy" are filled with laughter and fun and I will miss him every day of my life.

We met Bill when he lived in the penthouse at 130 Carlton. We used to chat each time we met even after he moved out of the building. We were so happy that he was moving back into the building and I was there when he was getting his keys for his new unit he was truly excited. We are shocked and deeply moved that he was taken from us so abruptly. We wish all the family and friends of Bill Deepest Sympathies and may He Rest in Peace.

Dear Mrs. Cluff, Mary, Patty and Gerry, For such a chatterbox, surprisingly, I'm at a loss for words. Words just seem so inadequate at a time like this. Although Billy was a little older than I, he was always kind to me when I was hanging around with Patty and Gerry. Not all big brothers are as gracious, and humourous, when it comes to their younger siblings and their friends. Billy's memory will always live in my heart. May Angels surround you and comfort you as you bear this, yet another, cross. Love, peace and friendship alway, Mary-Florence xoxo

I was deeply saddened yesterday to hear of Bill's untimely passing and am very sorry I am unable to attend the visitation and chapel service due to two medical procedures scheduled for me today and tomorrow here in Midland where I have resided for the last 14 years. I most assuredly would have been present to say goodbye to my longtime great school and cottage friend , Bill, with whom I enjoyed many fun times as we grew up in Toronto and Thunder Beach. My heartfelt sympathies go out to you, Mrs. Cluff, Patty, Mary and Gerry....my thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Bill was a super guy and we will all miss him greatly but he is now in a better place and at peace. God bless him.

I just returned to Toronto after a brief vacation only to hear the sad news of Bill's passing. He had been my neighbour at 130 Carlton and had just moved back, onto our floor. I was looking forward to more of our enjoyable conversations; his wonderful insights and his great sense of humour. His passing is a loss for many of us. My family's thoughts and prayers reach out to you in this sad sad time.

Wishing Bill's family every peace and comfort. Bill was a dear friend and special mentor of mine. He gave me my start at Maple Leaf Gardens Marketing Dept @ 1992 and this was the beginning of my career. I had just emailed Bill 3 weeks ago to share with him about my latest career move starting up my own marketing company and as always, he was enthusiastic and supportive. I will never forget Bill. He is a very special person and I know how much he cared for his family and co-workers. Bill was always a gentleman and a person whose company was easy to enjoy. Bill's memory will be kept alive by all of us who had the pleasure of his company. He will be missed but never fortgotten. warmest wishes to Bill Cluff's family. Angela McManus
