Obituary of Mary Muszynski

Passed away on January 7, 2016 at Belmont House in Toronto. "Louie" as she was known to all who loved her, was born in Salford, England on April 13, 1923. Louie was pre-deceased by her husband Jozef, who died in April of 2014. Jozef had devotedly cared for Louie for many years from the onset of Alzheimer's disease until she ultimately required complete supportive care. Louie was surrounded by her children and grandchildren when she passed away. Louie was the beloved sister of Frances, Phillip and Veni. She is survived by her five children: Maria, Anna (Han Kwan d. 2000), Linda (David Compton), David (Janet Oja) and Janina (Keith St. Jean) to whom she devoted her life. "Grandma Lou" was loved by her grandchildren: Alexandra, Benjamin, Nikki, Meghan, Abbey and Ethan. She also leaves five great grandchildren: Haileigh, Rebekah, William, Carter and Claire.During World War II, Louie nursed and cared for British soldiers in Scotland. She and her sister Veni lived in London during the London Blitz and often told compelling stories of people working together during this difficult time in England. Louie met Jozef at St. Savior's Church after the war and they married on August 2, 1949. In 1956, they moved to Canada with their two eldest daughters. They settled in Toronto's Seaton Village and made their home on Euclid Avenue for 58 years. Louie was truly a dedicated homemaker, always putting the needs of her family first. Nothing brought a smile to Louie's face like putting on a pot of tea and sitting down at the kitchen table for a visit. She dearly loved to laugh. Louie was also a dedicated volunteer for many years at Toronto General Hospital in the Cardiac Unit. There are many people including friends and neighbours who have kept in contact with Louie throughout her long life. The Kwan Family: John, Carolyn, Stephen, Heather and Stan Lee were part of her extended family as was the Shinde Family who visited Louie in her last years, as did long-time family friend Lori MacLean, for which the family will be forever grateful. Louie was especially loved by Stephen Baume and his family who live in Sydney, Australia. For the last years of Louie's life Ana Muya provided caring, cheerful and loving support and for this, Louie's Family offers her its sincere thanks and gratitude. During Louie's battle with Alzheimer's disease, the staff of Wellesley Central Place and most recently Belmont House provided exceptional care. The Family is mindful of the great support and pleasure she derived from all of these associations. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W.
