Obituary of Bela Torma

TORMA, Bela, P. Eng. Peacefully on Friday, December 4, 2015. He will be remembered by his former wife and long-time friend Veronica Torma and his many friends and colleagues in the engineering community in Canada and internationally. Bela was born in Hungary on January 13, 1926 and came to Canada as a Hungarian refugee in 1956. Giving his expertise and personal effort unstintingly, Bela progressed from Assistant Professor at Laval University through Project Engineering and Engineering Manager functions, developing into an internationally recognized expert in his field of bulk handling and transportation systems. After retirement from Bechtel Canada, Bela continued providing consulting engineering services in Canada and internationally. Special thanks to his caregiver Maria Kocsis. Friends will be received at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. A funeral service will be held in METROPOLITAN UNITED CHURCH, 56 Queen Street East, Toronto at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015.
