IRENE KENT-REDFORD Irene passed away in Toronto on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at home; a place she knew and was comfortable. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Gordon Redford in 2001 and survived by her loving son, Allan (Carrol). Although he is an only child, she was a mother to many. Irene leaves loving memories to those who also called her "Mom." She will be especially missed by Laura, Samantha, Nan, Mark, Gord, and Leslie. She is also survived by her brother George (Sylvia). She was an award winning pioneer in the Film and Television industry. Starting the Make-up department at the CBC in 1952; becoming the first professional Make-up artist in Canada; creating her own make-up line, Irene Kent Cosmetics; a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E.) for 63 years; in 1958 becoming one of the six founding members of I.A.T.S.E. Local 873 in Toronto; working on over 50 Feature Films and TV Series as head of department and countless TV and still photography commercial productions. Irene continued to be involved with the IATSE Local 873 union as an elected executive board member and delegate to the convention right to the very end. In honour of Irene, as the last of the 6 founding members of 873, the union office has prepared a Celebration of Life to be held in a studio - a place she spent so much of her life - a place to where she was dedicated, inspired and so very comfortable. Please join us in celebrating her life on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Pinewood Studios, Studio 11, 225 Commissioners St. Toronto, ON.
