Obituary of Helen Wark
HELEN ANNE WARK
Helen Anne Wark, age 82, of Scarborough, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2015. Born in Toronto, she was the daughter of Evelyn Campbell of Toronto and William Reilly of Dublin Ireland.
Helen met her beloved husband Ilmar, at Aluminum Goods in Toronto where she worked in the office and he worked as a tool and die maker. She was an avid bowler and Ilmar joined the bowling league, even though he didn't know how to bowl, just so he could meet her. Three months later, he proposed and the rest was history.
After the birth of their only daughter Viive, she became primarily a homemaker, occasionally working part-time jobs as time permitted. She vacationed regularly at the family cottage on Baxter Lake in Georgian Bay Township, that she and Ilmar built with their own hands, and spent many weekends at, hosting friends and family.
Helen was a kind, gentle and compassionate person. She loved her home in Scarborough, and got a lot of enjoyment from simple pleasures in life, such as enjoying a cup of coffee and a chat with her husband in the kitchen of their home on a sunny morning or sitting under the awning watching her grandchildren play in their large backyard amongst the flowers and blooms on their cherry tree.
Helen loved her family, and is survived by her daughter Viive (John) and her two wonderful grandchildren - Owen and Olivia. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Ilmar.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Thursday, October 22 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
