In 1971, When I was 19 years old and in my second year of University at St Marys U in Halifax, I decided to pack it in and see what I could do with my life, in Toronto. So I grabbed a one way flight from Hfx to Toronto. On the plane, I happened to be seated by Tim Chisholm. He talked to me extensively about what a bad move it would be to quit university. He likened it to a widget going thru a factory. Even though it had cost money to half-way make, it was worth nothing on the market. Tim invited me to his place in Toronto and took me to see his office, I believe in the TD Towers and showed me around the city in his 5.0L Mercedes. And then on Sunday evening, he bought me a one-way ticket back to Halifax. Long story short, I finished my Commerce degree, worked in the CA world and eventually became a 30+ year school teacher, with a wonderful wife and family. Thank you to Tim for putting me back on the tracks. May you be blessed. Peter Rankin, Halifax Nova Scotia

To the Chisholm family. Ronald A. Chisholm Ltd. was my second job in Canada and T.A. was a wonderful employer. Working for him was the best education a person could have in business acumen and office propriety. I enjoyed the company gatherings at his Muskoka cottage. My boys Piero and Joseph often remember the time they went waterskiing--And they couldn't even swim. I'll also remember all the noted people who came through the doors of Ronald A. Chisolm Ltd. I always thought it "funny" when his secretary and I would come in and straighten up his office and get his coffee. We could straighten the piles of paper, but never move them. He knew where everything was on his desk. I'm sure he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Sincerely Rebecca Somerville(Roppa), Piero and Joseph Roppa

My deepest condolences to all family, friends and collegues. I was truly shocked and am so saddened to hear of Tim's passing. Tim was so very special to me, and we shared many, many years of wonderful memories that I will forever hold close to my heart. The 'Flip of a Coin' was truly the most memorable. Tim was a man of warmth, humour, generosity and truly larger than life. Thinking of each and every one of you at this time, all my love, Peggy

On behalf of my siblings please accept our deepest sympathy in the recent passing of Mr. Chisholm. As members of one of the oldest families in Windermere - the Windermere Golf Course was originally my Grandfather's farm and years later he was the first Golf Course Superintendent followed by our Father. We all remember well Mr. Chisholm coming into the Windermere dock - always smiling, friendly and speaking to everyone. We are truly sorry for your loss.

My deepest, heartfelt sympathies to family members, all his friends and colleagues. Throughout my entire life, Uncle Tim was always so generous, warm, fun loving and larger than life. Every memory of my countless times spent with him, or just being in his presence brings a smile to my face and a special feeling from my heart. Those days as a teenager sitting at the cottage in the living room with Neil Diamond piping through the speakers, followed by Elton John, Sunday morning brunches at the cottage and gaining 5lbs. in one sitting, countless booze cruises anytime of the day, endless snowmobile trips and Tim teaching me to ride like 'one of the guys', endless shutter clicking to capture a special moment in time, calling him on his 40th birthday from Lausanne, Switzerland just to tell him how special he was, including him in my girls stagette in Florida, before my wedding in November 1989, closing the bar at the nightclub, and his wonderful and most memorable toast to the bride (me), a job that he said was most difficult.........the list goes on! I will miss you and love you forever, but I will never, ever forget you. RIP Uncle Tim!

Please accept my heartfelt sympathies directed to Tim's family members, close friends and associates both business and personal.
What a "larger than life" character he was -- always so gregarious and welcoming in nature!
My memories of Tim are both professional and personal.
As the spouse of a business colleague of Tim's, I was treated with respect and kindness at many Chisholm corporate functions through the years. This is a true reflection of Tim's executive leadership and generosity of spirit.
On a personal note, Mike and I once enjoyed a tour of Tim's island home including his priceless collection of Classic Wooden Boats. At another time, Tim took us through the locks in Port Carling on the "Rambler" after the Gravenhurst Boat Show. During many Boat Shows, we were greeted with a hearty "Permission To Come On Board - Millers". A few beverages soon followed along with conversations about shared business experiences between Tim and Mike.
I will remember Tim with great fondness.

We were very sorry and saddened to hear of Tim's sudden passing. We were immediately reminded of the words Tim wrote to Phyllis just four years ago when she lost her dear sister suddenly to a stroke. Tim wrote, " It was indeed a tragedy. In hindsight we would all be blessed if we were lucky to go quickly, if we have to go at all." Tim lived a full life and was fortunate enough to have passed quickly just as he wished. I have many happy memories of the thirty-two years I worked with Tim and feel I have been connected to the Chisholm family most of my life. Phyllis joins me in expressing our condolences to all of you. Very Sincerely, Walter Pelley

Graeme Lowe says he will never forget all the great visits he had and the boat trips out to the Island. Graeme will always remember the good times and business relationships he and Tim shared together. Andy Lowe says - Tim was the best "Boss" he ever had. When Andy used to turn up at the office from a night out partying, unshaven, still wearing the same clothes, smelling of alcohol, and still well under the weather, Tim would call his staff together - Bob Forman, Andy Wright and Nick Walker among them - and give them a genuine Tim Chisholm dressing down saying that his own staff members were not looking after this poor man who had come out from New Zealand! Both have many fond memories at Tim's house, dinner parties etc - the great thing about Tim's parties were that one could never remember when you went home! Words cannot make your sorrow easier to bear, but they can show how deeply others sympathise and care. With deepest sympathy from Graeme, Andy, Dave & Margaret
