JAMES RICHARD MUIR It is with profound sadness that our family announces the devastating and sudden passing of James Richard Muir on April 19, 2012 (born January 4, 1958). James is survived by his loving wife Mary (nee Metcalf), his two adoring daughters Katie and Jennifer, and his five siblings: best friend and brother Tom (Patricia), John, Kathleen Young (Paul), June Ntazinda (Franco) and Jocelyn Saunders (Blair). James was predeceased by his father, Jack, and is survived by his mother, June. Dearly loved uncle of Lauren and Christopher Muir, Emma and Graham Young, Mutesi and Musinga Ntazinda, and Brooke and Brett Saunders. Brother-in-law to Andrew, Robert and John Metcalf. James was a special son-in-law to Sue and Rob Metcalf, and a special nephew to Molly Donaldson. James grew up in Toronto. He attended Jarvis Collegiate and the University of Toronto, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He earned his Chartered Accountant designation at Coopers & Lybrand. Early in his career, James joined The Dalton Company Ltd. and for the past 20 years served as its Chief Financial Officer and an integral member of its senior management team. James was a passionate and highly talented athlete. He played badminton, tennis, squash, golf and chess throughout his life. In his younger years, he was a ferocious badminton competitor, winning several Canadian championship titles and represented Canada on its national team. James led a full and active life. He was highly regarded for his integrity and professionalism. He is deeply loved by his wife and daughters, his large extended family and his countless friends. He will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 4 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. A service will be held in FAIRLAWN AVENUE UNITED CHURCH, 28 Fairlawn Ave., Toronto, on Thursday, April 26 at 11 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation, 150 Kilgour Rd., Toronto, ON., M4G 1R8.
