Dagmar, It's been quite a while(decades) since we last connected. When I saw the name "Stafl" in the obituary section the memories of our years together at the Ministry of Consumer Relations came flooding back. I remember our chats about families and the pride you took in your young sons and Gerry. Sharon and I remember a visit to your farm with our young children and how hospitable you and Gerry were. My sincere sympathy to you and your family on the passing of your beloved Gerry. From what I know he led an inspired life. Jerry Cooper

Sincere condolences to my old friend, Andrew (we met at Touche Ross), and Robyn (we met when I was at Royal Trust, 33 Yonge Street, and I asked her about the name "Stafl"), Remember, O Lord our God, this Your servant, Vratislav, who stands before You in faith and hope of eternal life. Release him from his sins. Destroy all iniquity. Pardon, loose and free him from all transgressions, voluntary and involuntary. Grant him to enjoy and share in Your eternal happiness which You have prepared for all who love You. May his memory be eternal.

Our condolences to the Stafl family on the passing away of Jerry. He meant everything to your family and he was a great dear friend to the rest of us. Jerry immigrated to Canada and worked for Bata in Belleville, Ontario. He lived not far from my family on Foster Ave. This was 1948. I was peacefully finishing my degree at Queen's University and Jerry was unpeacefully leaving his home and university and coming to Canada. We met Jerry and Dagmar in 1954 skiing at Val Morin, Quebec in the Laurentians. Reg and I along with Nancy and Lloyd Scarth and the Stafls shared a chalet- The Bottom Drawer for several years. Jerry was always gutsy. He shared weekend dish washing in spite of a broken arm. He complained but carried on until the break was confirmed after the ski season. We have had many happy times together. Jerry's misfortune in Czechoslovakia became our good fortune here in Canada. We will truly miss our great friend. Here's to you Jerry. Our family was sad to hear of Gerry's passing. He was a wonderful man - with a wonderful wife! (I am soon to start reading Dagmar's book which was in my father's apt., my aunt took to read and has recently passed to me.) Wishing you many fond memories of an exciting and turbulent life and a character of energy and kindness.

Dagmar - thank you so much for sharing Gerry with us over many years! He was an inspiration to us through his long and steadfast friendship with Kip, through his continued support of Lois, through his sharing good times with Jack and through his humour in anything he did we learned so much. We are humbled and honoured for having known him as long as we did. Susan and Michael
