Robert (Robin) Law
January 8, 1930 - September 18, 2015
Robin passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital. He was the third child of Dr. Ronald and Janet Law of Montreal. Predeceased by his sister Graham Lennox and survived by his sister Nancy Love, many nieces and nephews, his wife Susanne, their children Madeleine (Dan) Welton; Graham Law; and Jennifer (Bruce) Fraser and his 4 grandchildren: Jack, James, Rosalynd and Sophie.
Robin had a love of sports, playing baseball and hockey in his youth and enjoying golf and skiing later throughout his adult life. He was also an avid card player, with a passion for bridge and cribbage. He had a great enthusiasm for travel, with many family vacations to Minaki, Bermuda, and various ski destinations. In retirement Robin visited many parts of the world and was a keen observer of local arts and culture.
Robin was a life long member of the United Church and active in the Canadian Bible Society and the Boy Scouts for the past sixteen years and was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels.
A lawyer in his professional life, Robin practiced for 44 years serving as counsel for several corporations and individuals. In 1966 he was made a Queen's Counsel and upon retirement in 2000 a scholarship for Legal Ethics was established at the University of Toronto in his name.
He will be dearly missed by all of his friends and family.
A funeral service will be held at TIMOTHY EATON MEMORIAL CHURCH, 230 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto on Friday, September 25 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if desired, may we respectfully suggest donations to Sunnybrook Foundation, H332-2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, ON.
