Your mom and dad we the 1st people we met in Deep River. Your dad gave Ed a chance at the only job available to him in Ontario in the 3 years after he got his PhD. Ed never forgot that confidence that Ivan showed in his abilities. Your mom was a wonderful woman to us new comers, having only come here for 1 year herself but stayed like the rest of us. After your dad died, it was wonderful to meet up with Beth and find out where she had been that month!!! What a joy it was to have seen her last summer at Summerfest here in Deep River. As usual she was looking forward to the adventures she was going to have at the Retirement Home. At the same time my mom was doing the same thing. They both enjoyed their lives having hew adventures. What a wonderful and full life she lead, following her own music.

Both of your parents were welcoming to us when we first arrived in Deep River in 1980, welcoming us to the neighbourhood of old Frontenac. Beth would ask Phil and Andrew to do jobs for her in the garden, shovelling the driveway and once digging potatoes in her allotment. Beth often popped in on us as a personal friend and neighbour just to say "Hello" or "How are you?" as we also did with her. She became very much a mentor to me as a parent always wearing a cheerful smile. Dear Beth was very special and I still remember long walks we took out on the ski trails. God bless her. Yvonne

Beth was very much a part of our lives through her friendship with and concern for two other great ladies of Deep River, Val Mackintosh and Catharine Kushneriuk. I was sorry I did not have an opportunity to say farewell to her when she left Deep River. Ivan and I send our sympathy to you all. (I particularly remember Kathy, a bright light in my first months of teaching at Mackenzie) Charlotte McWilliam

I remember Beth very fondly from our time at Aquafit classes in Deep.. We all appreciated her gentle, kind and happy spirit. It was a priviledge to have had that small bit of time in her company. My sincerest sympathy.

Dear Family, I loved your Mom and Dad in those Deep River days. Your Mother was a good friend of Sally Lewis, and I viewed her as a second Mom. When Sally went to Bermuda to meet her husband Paul, after a six month stint in India, I stayed in your house. It was a hard time for me, at the point of feminine maturation and your Mother was so kind. really lovely. Ivan and Dad had lovely trips together in the wilderness and we as a family picnicked with your parents and you kids many times. I have an amazing photo of my Sally and Beth in fabby plaid pants steadying a canoe. I bet they both made those pants from a pattern! Very sorry for your loss, losing a Mom is a big deal. Take time. Hugs, Marion Lewis

So sorry to learn of Beth's death. She was a good friend and a real lady. She loved Aquafit and was missed when she moved away. I remember her at the Australia Day parties where we ate lamb and pavlovas and of course drank Aussie wine. I will not be able to attend her memorial but will be there in spirit. Please accept my sympathy. Denise pettigrew

As fellow Australians Beth and I always stopped to chat whenever we ran across each other in Deep River. She was always full of news about family and friends and happenings around town. And she was always smiling. I will miss her. I also remember Ivan, who died and left Beth such a long time ago.
