Obituary of Christopher Paterson

CHRISTOPHER BLAIKIE PATERSON November 11, 1927 - September 2, 2015 On September 2, 2015 at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto of complications arising from Parkinson's disease, in his 88th year. Much loved husband of Lorry (The Hon. Lorraine Gotlib), adored father of Susan (Martin Pollak), Douglas (Donna), and Claire (Cameron Reed). Loving grandfather to Kelsey, Reed, and Corby, and Kristin and Alex. Survived also by his brothers Norman (Sally) of Thornbury, Ontario, and Blair (Nancy) of Nerja, Spain, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Dr. Donald and Dorothy (Blaikie) Paterson, and dear brother Hugh. He was born in London, England and attended Trinity College School, Port Hope, Ontario, Harrow School in England, and McGill University for one year. Joined Price Waterhouse in Vancouver in 1947 and transferred to Toronto in 1955. Became a partner in 1967, retiring in 1988. Active volunteer for the Canadian Red Cross Society, Parkinson Society Canada, Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, and the St. Andrew's Society of Toronto. He was a keen sportsman and gardener: an accomplished golfer, fly fisherman, sailor, and skier. He was a Life Member of The Toronto Golf Club, member of The Royal Canadian Yacht Club, and formerly a member of the Maganassippi Fish & Game Club, Caledon Mountain Trout Club, and The Badminton & Racquet Club. He was also a great lover of music, and always enjoyed singing - especially John Denver! With special thanks to Chris's devoted team of caregivers, Juanita, Silina, Gloria, Maria, and Precita. At Chris's request, private cremation and interment. The family will receive friends in GRACE CHURCH-ON-THE-HILL, 300 Lonsdale Road, Toronto for a Service of Remembrance to honour his life on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 2 o'clock. Reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to Parkinson Society Canada or the Canadian Red Cross Society.
