Obituary of Frederick Thompson
FREDERICK WILLIAM THOMPSON
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our wonderful dad, dear grandfather and great-grandfather, Frederick William Thompson, who passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, as a result of complications from a car accident.
He was born in Toronto on October 13, 1925, the beloved son of Helen and Eric Thompson (deceased), loving brother of Dona Harris (deceased) and Gwenyth Sharpe (deceased), and uncle to Reed (deceased), Dona, and Kenneth. He will be dearly missed by his children Cristine, Terese, Ted (Barb), Jill (John), and Chuck (Lisa); his grandchildren David, Michael (Trisha), Courtney, Donal (Peggy), Kevin (Harmonie), Hunter, River, Clara, Sara, Cole and Jake; and his great-grandchildren Jack, Emma, Adriana, Olivia and Sophia. He will also be missed by his many friends and colleagues.
Dad's most important legacy is his family. His passion for life included golf, the market, gambling, watching sports, and did we mention golf? His extraordinary generosity touched the lives of not only his family, but the numerous individuals who crossed his path. We are so proud of the gift he made to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, founding the Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. David Gladstone and the caring staff at Sunnybrook and their Foundation, who have supported our dad and his family.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 at the MOUNT PLEASANT RECEPTION CENTRE, 375 Mount Pleasant Road (east gate entrance). A reception will follow at the Rosedale Golf Club, 1901 Mount Pleasant Road. In lieu of flowers, we know that to honour our dad's memory, his wish would be for you to consider a donation to the Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre.
