Obituary of Josephine L. Crossland

Josephine L. Crossland Josie passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, August 9, 2015, following a remarkably courageous battle against cancer. Born in England on September 13, 1947 to Jack and Ida Hunt, she moved to Canada in 1966 to begin a new life. She was predeceased by her loving and dedicated husband of 42 years, The Honorable James Crossland. Josie leaves behind two sons, James (Julie) and Joseph, as well as two grandchildren, Cate and James Jr. She was deeply comforted by the presence of her friend Steve, and her brother Ken and sister Gill (Brian), who visited from England to provide support during the entire period of her illness. The family wishes to thank the endless stream of nieces, nephews and friends who visited her in recent weeks and who brought love, laughter and many fond memories. She never wanted to be alone - and thankfully never was. Josie loved to laugh and found humor in everyday life. She enjoyed long walks with her beloved dogs, Abby and Cassie. The incredible courage and humor she displayed during the course of this horrible disease was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends at Humphrey Funeral Home, 1403 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on August 13th, followed by a celebration of life in the chapel at 4:15 p.m. Afterwards, a reception will be held. In lieu of donations, Josie wanted flowers, and lots of them. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
