Obituary of Blakeley Oliver
OLIVER, Blakeley
March 13, 1945 - July 6, 2015
It is with deep sadness that we announce Blake's passing after a courageous two-year battle with colon cancer. He will be greatly missed by his children Greg and Jill, sister Janice, granddaughter Pearl, daughter-in-law Kristi, son-in-law Richard and countless friends whose lives he touched. Blake was born in Lethbridge and grew up in Regina. After attending university at Montana State, he returned to Canada. Soon thereafter he joined the Coca Cola Company in Regina, which eventually saw him relocated to Vancouver, Hong Kong and Toronto. Blake inherited a love of travel from his father and travelled extensively; circling the globe many times and initiating conversations everywhere he went. He was a good storyteller, loved making a joke and easily made friends in all walks of life. He also was an avid fan of a variety of sports and could often be heard ranting with contempt for municipal and provincial politicians. Most of all, Blake was a devoted father, grandfather, son and brother. Friends and colleagues are invited to a celebration of Blake's life on Thursday, July 23 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Moxie's in the Fairview Mall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sunnybrook Hospital Odette Cancer Centre GI Site Fund. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
