Spending summers at our cottage, next door to the Toi family, was a joy for many years. I have fond memories of sitting on the deck, sharing wine with Irene, and of walking together on the beach with our various much-loved dogs. I hope she is sitting on a beach in the sun somewhere, surrounded by the animals she loved so much.

I have fond memories of Irene Toi which go back over 50 years when Juta and I spent summers at Jõekääru camp. Irene would appear on Sundays, as did most parents, to visit her children and disperse goodies. I was fascinated by Juta's family, these exotic newcomers from Australia. But from those days, what has left the deepest impression was how Juta kept such a caring eye over her little brother John. Obviously an excellent example had been set by Juta's mother, Irene. My deepest sympathy to Juta and her extended family on the passing of this remarkable woman. Tiiu Wallner (Ristmäe)
