I have read about Oliver, and seen beautiful pictures of him and you and the family, on social media. We don't know each other, and still,I feel the need to reach out at this time of immeasurable grief and pain, to say I am with you, I am for you, I am holding your heart in mine. I am loving my only child with awareness of every precious minute. I am so very saddened by your loss. Love, a stranger with a child. My children and I had the great privilege of visiting Stu, Laura and Ollie from time to time while he was at sick kids. One of our most cherished moments with Ollie was during this past March Break (2015) when he was well enough to play games and he and my son, Jacob, got to visit the play room and choose various games to play together. Jacob truly enjoyed this day, and spending some solid boy time with Ollie.
During this visit, the boys bonded over a new word. Ollie was sharing a story and used the word "Johnson" to refer to a certain male body part. Jacob had never heard this part referenced in such a way, and the boys had a chuckle over it. This has become Jacobs favourite word---he loves it mostly when he hears it as someone's last name. ;). He has also shared the word with some iof his own friends and it warms my heart to hear him say "my friend Ollie".
At Ollie's birthday party, I was able to get him to crack a smile despite how tired he was, by recanting to him how famous he has become in our little world because of his use of the word Johnson.
It makes me laugh every single time--- and I will never forget this "boys will be boys" inside joke that he and Jacob got to share.
Thank you, Ollie, for being such a "tell it like it is" kid. We are so honoured to have bee able to call you our friend.. Love you always xoxo
