Our sincere condolences to Mervin, Norm, Jeff, your Mom and Dad were very special people and made life so much easier for us when we moved to Winnipeg under trying circumstances so many years ago. Norlaine and I really got to know them when we lived in Victoria. Your Mom was so kind to us and really made us fell at home so many Sunday dinners too many to count I still miss those. You guys were really luck to have her, I know you know that. She always set an example of how someone should live and treat others. She had a fabulous life and will never be forgotten. Eric, Norlaine and Family langley, BC

To the Vidler family, Our condolences from the Willson family in Winnipeg. I know it is difficult to say goodbye to such a great lady. Our Auntie Peg was always someone we loved and admired. She showed leadership and determination in the way she approached her life. We looked up to her and I know she was a good friend to my parents. My fondest memories of her go back to the annual Boxing Day party at the Vidler home. These festivities took place during a time when Boxing Day was set aside for rest and family and all the stores were thankfully closed. I remember her organizing meals, with the help of Uncle Ray and the kids, for at least 6 families or more with presents under the tree for everyone. It was great fun and I will cherish those memories as will others for the rest of my days. - Gord

Mervyn (Chuck) and family. I am sorry to read of the passing of your mother in the Victoria TImes Colonist today. I worked with you Chuck in 1968 at CKFH when my own mother passed away, and remember your kindness to me (a young 18) at that time. My condolences are with you at this time. Mary Margaret former Colleague at CKFH in Toronto

I grew up on Lyle Street in St. James and lived next door to the Vidlers. Peggy Willson lived up the street -- next door to the Schioler family. It was a close knit community. Ken used to babysit me and my brothers. It was always exciting for us kids to see Ken and Peg going out on a "date" -- often just a walk in the park. At their marriage I was 12 years old -- Ken and Peg were a beautiful couple. Today both the Vidler and Willson homes are well maintained and the community is thriving. Reading Peg's obituary makes me realize, even though over the years I had lost touch with her, what a wonderful person she was and what a great contribution she had made to our community.
