Obituary of Eva Prockter
Prockter, Eva P. (nee Derbyshire)
Passed away on Wednesday, May 27th, 2015 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, in her 88th year. Beloved wife for almost 67 years of Bob Prockter. Loving mother to her daughters Laurie, Beverly Jones (Bill), and her son Bruce (Patricia). Special grandmother to Michael & Jennifer. Eva was the middle child of the late Sam & Mary Derbyshire. She was predeceased by her sister Virginia, known as Ginny, and is survived by her brother Jim. Fondly remember by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was born in 1927 above her father's curb pump gas station on Yonge St near the old Toronto city limits. At 13 she picked out the house for her parents to buy on St. Germain Avenue. This was the place she loved to be and she continued to live there for the majority of her life.
Eva had a love of classical music and in her younger days played the violin. She was creative and taught herself how to sew. She spent many hours sewing all sorts of things. She had the ability to fix almost anything. She loved spending time with family and friends and hosted countless family dinners and events. Before her marriage to Bob she worked for Imperial Life and later at Maryann's Fabrics. She enjoyed spending her retirement time keeping busy with the family, her home and taking annual trips to Florida with Bob.
In 2005 Eva was diagnosed with Dementia. She spent part of that time at home under the care of Laurie and Bob. A special thank you to Eleanor for her love, kindness and compassion in helping to care for Eva for the past five years.
Thank you to the staff at Meighen Manor for their care of Eva since 2012.
Eva was a kind, gentle loving soul and was always a lady. She will be missed.
