Obituary of Mary Jarvis
MARY LOUISE JARVIS (nee Kent)
As cherry blossoms bloomed, a delightful bell stopped ringing on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 when Mary Louise passed away peacefully in her home at age 91. Born March 18, 1924 in Toronto to Sydney and Marjorie Kent. Wife of Thomas E. Jarvis and mother of Deb (George), Dan (Wendy), Ian (Pansiri), David (Ruth), Julie and Kent (died 2009). Grandmother to Jamie, Ashley, Ian, Cameron, Bronwyn, Colin & Betsy, Taylor, Lee and Carter. Sister to Hugh (died 1941), Sydney (died 2001) and David Kent.
Mary Louise (Beano) was a lover of music and spirit who relished the small things in life - beautiful flowers, oil painting, canoeing, bicycling, dancing, laughing, singing, walking her dog, skating, and most of all, being by the lake. She loved teaching young children, sitting with elders, and listening to others stories. She will always be remembered for her welcoming smile and sparkling eyes, a dear friend to many.
Mary Louise received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, studied at the Banff School of Arts, graduated Teachers College, and became a kindergarten teacher and also a Sunday school teacher. On the way through life she was also an avid painter, camp counsellor and canoe tripper at Camp Wapomeo in Algonquin Park. Mary Louise lived in Toronto her whole life and supported people and things she believed would keep the city well, fostering a strong sense of community in the groups and organizations she was involved with.
There will be a service to celebrate the life of Mary Louise at ROSEDALE UNITED CHURCH (159 Roxborough Drive, M4W 1X7) at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8th with a reception to follow afterwards.
