Obituary of Bill Perkins

William Michael Perkins December 15 1955 - April 12 2012 An engaging personality, lover of good books, fine wine and scotch, gourmet cooking, the performing arts, family life, the solitude of an exotic island, and a passion for golf, Bill Perkins passed away suddenly playing the game he loved. Bill was born in Halifax and led an intensive and adventurous life, both personally and professionally. As a teenager, he developed a passion for dramatic arts and competitive running. At 16 he obtained his private pilot's license. Bill earned his B.Com and law degree from Dalhousie University. His successful career in commercial real estate began with Oxford Development, Cadillac Fairview and Campeau. In Nova Scotia, he was President of Halifax Developments. While there his community leadership included the Board of Neptune Theatre Foundation. He returned to Toronto as a Senior Vice President with Morguard Investments and in 2004 joined Redcliff Realty Advisors as President. Bill was an avid golfer and a member of Summit Golf Club. He played many of the world's iconic courses. Bill's passion for travel led him to the tiny island of Bequia in the Grenadines. There he married Sally Green and the island became their second home. Bill is survived by his loving wife Sally, two sons Will and Evan and their mother, Cathy Hudson of Toronto, parents Rosemarie (nee Borgald) and William James Perkins of Toronto, sister Debby Maskell (Syd) of Halifax, brothers Rick (Wendy) of Halifax, and Steve (Kellie) of Keswick. Bill is also survived by nieces Katie Maskell, Ashley and Stephanie Perkins, nephew Scott Maskell and many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18th. A celebration of Bill's life for all his friends and colleagues will be held at the NATIONAL CLUB, 303 Bay Street, Toronto on Thursday, April 19th, at 4:00 pm.
