Evelyn and my mom Joy met at University and remained friends. Evelyn used to come to Edmonton to visit. They would sit up until all hours talking and laughing. Evelyn would always show up with a suitcase full of clothes that she would pass on to my mom. Of course we would all try them on and us kids used to laugh hysterically as we paraded around in "old lady" clothes. Years later I went to Toronto to vist Evelyn. We were sitting having a cup of tea and she started laughing. Nice outfit she said. Turned out it was one of hers. Evelyn and I became friends over the years. I am grateful to have known her. My sincere condolences to her family and friends. She will be missed. Kathy Nicol

Evelyn and I have been walking together for years up and down the corridor of our 39th floor apartments. Walking and talking about the everything starting with the news of the day, about books, philosophy, religion, politics and whatever... She was smart, witty and had a wealth of knowledge. More importantly, she was a good friend who even phoned from her hospital room to inquire about OUR well being. My wife Florence and I shall miss her greatly. Our condolences to the family!

"Aunt" Evelyn and I corresponded via email and snail-mail for many years and I will miss the "e-cards" she would send to me at Christmas and Easter. My thoughts and prayers are with her daughters, Jane and Anne, at this difficult time.

I will miss those long telephone conversations about the early days of Cambrian College where I first met Evelyn. My wife and I became friends after John moved to Belmont House and I would entertain John using one of the many organs in the home. Evelyn organized my last session in the locked Alzheimers ward. She and John sat together as I played for them and a dozen other ward residents - my most memorable musical performance!
