Obituary of Augustine Arrigo

AUGUSTINE MICHAEL ARRIGO, Q.C., B.A., LL.B., KGCHS, KSS Peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Frances. Cherished father of Augustine (Claudia), Michael, Daniel (Fiona) and the late Mary Frances. Devoted Grampa to Nicholas, David and Camille. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law Anthony and Anne Arrigo and Frank and Mary Arrigo. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto, and Osgoode Hall Law School. A lawyer, builder, developer and organizer of a great many charitable events, Dad was always eager to participate in opportunities which would benefit others. He greatly enjoyed working with the fundraising teams at the Toronto Rehabilitation Centre, Providence Health Foundation and Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation. From church suppers to "Lobster Fest," to the Good Shepherd Golf Tournament and the Providence Golf Classic, he happily threw all his energy into ensuring a successful and memorable event. He was equally proud of his membership in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and formerly served as its Toronto Lieutenant. His life was centred on family, friends, his philanthropic efforts and the Church. Dad's many passions, which he shared with Frances, included golf, music, and enjoyable evenings spent with their many friends. His indomitable spirit and boundless enthusiasm for life will continue to inspire us all. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD, 21 Simonston Road, Thornhill. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery.
