I was deeply saddened to find out Don had passed away. I have known him since the early 1990s. He was very generous with his time in legal matters in the tech field and I kept in touch with him for a very long time. Though, I haven't seen him after he fell down while shoveling snow. He was a gentleman and a formal man. More than that, he was a very caring man and a family oriented man. I will miss him. My deepest condolences to his wife Shirley and his kids. God bless.

Shirley; Just wanted to send along our sincere condolences. We saw the notice in the Globe and Mail, even though we no longer live in the Toronto area. Don and I did some fun things back in our youthful days, and I am really sorry to get this news. Paris is too far to be with you, so I would like to share with you the vivid memory I have of the last moment I saw Donald. It was last September at the Jardin du Luxembourg where Charlotte was playing in the sandbox with her parents, her grandmother watching her. Don and I took a small walk and we talked about life, about getting older, about my father who just passed away. Don was so gentle, so generous. I shall not forget it. He told me then how you, his family, were at the very core of his live. He loved you. he was such a gentleman. I wish I were with you to day. Much love, Isabelle

Dearest Liz, Shirley, Hill, we share your sorrow and sadness at the passing of Don and send you all our love from across the Atlantic. Don and the Pounsett family welcomed Chloe in their home years back with all the generousity, kindess, joy and smarts that characterises them, Don was a second father to Chloe during all her time in Canada. We will remember Don foundly, his kindness, generosity, his open spirit, his curiosity of all things, his wisedom, his moral strength, sense of direction and ethic, his love of music and the arts, and his love of his family. We stand with you and send you all our love. Your French Family.

I was very saddened to hear of Don's passing. I worked as a student and then associate with Don in the late 70's and early 80's at Fraser & Beatty and then as a partner in our Ottawa office until Don's retirement. Don was a pioneer in the tech law area and was a mentor to me as I developed a focus in this field as well. I will always remember Don as a real gentleman who was generous with his time and readily willing to share his expertise. I still chuckle as I recall working on one client's annual proceedings as a student which had to be revised multiple times by Don in his usual patient manner, and I think this has helped me to be a better mentor. My sincere sympathies to the family at your time of loss. Tom

Dear shirley, i wish I were a bird to cross the ocean and stand with you and your family sharing this terrible loss. I just met Don few months ago but I knew him already as he was the Canadian Father of Chloé as you've been her mother for a long while. You both, Don and you, allow Chloé to go to her first "party" , Don gave his advices to her and we will keep his memory in our heart and not Forget. I won't forget his good sense of humour when he was in Feissons. Your stay with us will remain one of the best I Gad . Je pense tres tres fort à vous tous et vous embrasse . Beatrice

I was deeply saddened by the news of Don's passing. Don was my articling principal when I started my legal career at Fraser & Beatty in 1977. He was a very supportive and caring individual and a true gentleman. He also gave me one of my few opportunities to appear in court...a small claims court action against someone who had damaged his car...we won! Although I have not seen Don since leaving F&B some 25 years ago I have always remembered his kindness to me as a law student and junior associate. My most sincere condolences to the Pounsett family.

I was sorry to hear of Don's death. He and I were jolly thespians on stage at the Arts and Letters Club's Spring Shows for several years running. The msn could sing and dance and act. He was lots of fun to work with and we had good times together. I am thinking of you at this difficult time and wish you every strength and comfort in the days ahead.

By a stroke of great luck, I had Don assigned to be my mentor in the late 70's at Fraser & Beatty. We worked together for many years and shared lots of good times and laughs, as mentorship developed into friendship. Don was a pioneer in the area of computer law and I was fortunate enough to be there working with him as that field of law developed. Even though we didn't see each other very often after his (and subsequently my) retirement, we stayed in touch through email exchanges, and I will miss those very much. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to Shirley and the rest of his family.

Don and I were at Victoria College , class of 5T6. In 1954 I wrote the music for the Vic Bob, the college show, and he was in the small orchestra. A group up of us kept our friendship after the show was over, and I remember going to concerts and parties with Don inhis little Volkswagen beetle. He was a rare undergrad who had a car, and was very generous giving us all rides. At a reunion some years ago, he and I were reminiscing about the Vic Bob, and I mentioned that I didn't have any copies of the songs I had written. Don said he had kept them and would send them to me. The next week a packet arrived, and there was a copy is each song- but only the clarinet part. I still have them. The notice of his death brought back many happy happy memories of those long ago days, and I phoned a friend in Vancouver who was a part of them and we also reminisced about our days at Vic with Don. My sympathy to his family.

My condolences to the Pounsett family. I have very fond memories of working with Don at Fraser Beatty. He was always in a chipper mood and welcomed conversation. When he retired I always looked forward to seeing him at the firm's holiday luncheon to catch up. I used to tease him about his camel hair vest that was just like the one Don Cherry wore when he coached the Bruins. Don always laughed at that and, I am convinced, would ensure he wore that vest to those events. Rest in peace Don.

I wish to offer my sincere sympathy to the Pounsett family. Don and Alan and our family grew up together as neighbours on Parkhurst Blvd. in Leaside. My parents , Russell and Esther Godbold were good friends with Marg and Frank and enjoyed bridge evenings and cottage visits to Boshkung Lake. I met Shirley at the Watercolour Society and enjoyed seeing her paintings. I know Don will be very much missed,by his family friends and colleagues. Sincerely Lynda
