Obituary of Margaret Marks

Marks, Helen (Margaret) It is with sadness that we share with you the passing of Helen Marks on Thursday, January 22, 2015. She took her last few breaths while sitting peacefully in her rocking chair with family holding her hand. In their 58 years of marriage, Helen and her late husband Hasty (2000), had three daughters, Judy, Nancy and Patty. The sons-in-law, Richard Downing (1997), Lloyd Durocher and Danny Clark, were warmly welcomed into their Leaside home. Nanny will be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren and their families: Adam and Amy, Todd and Kacie, Alison and Libby, Stephanie and Steve, Scott and Alyssa, Daniel and Kat, and Patrick. She had also been blessed with six great grandchildren: Emily, Alithea, Eleanor, Abigail, Evelyn and Gemma, who live in California. In her 94 years, Helen made many friends at the East York Senior Centre, church, lawn bowling, and volunteering. She was also a sought after partner for bridge and euchre. She believed in staying active and, up until her 92nd year, drove others so they too could participate in community activities. The family would like to thank the staff at 921 Millwood for their kindness and support. A visitation will be held at NORTHLEA UNITED CHURCH, 125 Brentcliffe Rd. on Saturday, January 31st at 1:00. A service will follow at 2:00. A private interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army, 2 Overlea Boulevard, Toronto, ON, M4H 1P4, or World Vision, 1 World Drive, Mississauga, ON, L5T 2Y4.
