I had the good fortune to know Pam for over 35 years. She was the "bright spot" in my work. So exceptionally intelligent, so witty, so gifted, such a wonderful boisterous sense of humour. She lit up any room that she entered. Her cheery laughter could always be heard down the halls. Her heartfelt compassion was felt by all of her patients because Pam meant what she said and did. A great loss to the field of radiation oncology as well as a great personal loss to the so many people who loved her.
My sincere condolences to the Catton family. Pam was a very special person, a very special cancer specialist, and will always be in the hearts of so many of us. What a privilege it has been to have had her in my life.

My sincere condolences to Stephen, Charles and to the whole family. I was deeply saddened and surprised by the news of Pamelas passing. For me she was a younger colleague who rapidly advanced from a bright hard working resident to an outstanding medical professional and leader in her field. She made a major impact on the practice and research of oncology. He admirable human qualities, her enthusiasm, energy, kindness, and genuine love of people made it always a pleasure to work and socialize with her. She will fondly remembered by all those who were fortunate to meet her in any capacity and will be greatly missed.

I am so saddened to hear about Pam's passing. I hope her family are strengthened by the many expressions of condolences from her colleagues and friends. For me Pamela embodied all that was so admirable in a physician and career radiation oncologist. When I was in practice and especially attending at national meetings and Royal College examinations at PMH, Pam was always a breathe of fresh air, and an enormously helpful colleague. She had a sense of humour that was both marvellously quirky and highly intelligent. Her care for patients was obvious and her interest in the betterment of our profession through skilled teaching, and research was always evident. What a terrible irony that she should pass from the disease we have dedicated our lives to fighting. It is gratifying to know she has made a real difference to Canadian Radiation Oncology, and I believe we are all grateful for that. Now nine years retired, I remember with great fondness wonderful colleagues in Eastern Canada of which Pam Catton was one who stands out in my thoughts. Pamela was taken too soon; we can only give thanks for Pam's life and work, and I add to the many others who extend their condolences to her loved ones.

Such terrible loss for all of you, Steve and the Catton clan, or, as Debbie said so poignantly at Pam's tribute only days before her passing, for her "three families" - her doggie family, her work family and her "human family" - all close-knit, adoring, devoted to her. Yes, Pam had so much to give to all of us, and to the profession and practice of radiation medicine, survivorship, teaching, mentoring...her memory and legacy will live even though she has left us..May the wonderful memories that so many of us have written about in the book at the tribute, that she thankfully did have enough time to read and be aware of, give you some solace in your grief, for she has touched many, and will continue to do so.

I wanted to express my deepest sympathies for the Catton family and loved ones. Pam was an inspiration to all of us who she shepherded through the U of T Rad Onc training program. She allowed us to be better physicians but more importantly better people, more caring and empathetic for our patients. She was an enthusiastic person and a great spirit. We'll miss you Pam.

Pam was such an important mentor to me, and she believed so strongly in my abilities that it changed my whole perspective on what I could accomplish in my professional world. We bonded over our love of being "the rebels" (although Pam used another more colourful phrase to describe us). Her laugh was infectious and her loyalty was fierce. Pam - you have inspired so many and I thank you for caring so deeply. My world is better because I had the opportunity to know you. Much love to all your families at this time.

I am so sorry to hear that Dr. Catton has passed away and from the same disease she spent her life trying to cure or control for the many patients who came her way at PMH. Dr. Catton led a team in radiology who extended the quality of life for my late husband, Ed Shannon. Dr. Catton would not remember him among the many that she helped but I remember her. My condolences to her family. She left you too soon. Lyn Cummins
