Obituary of Doris Macklam
Doris Evelyn Macklam
(nee Whiteside)
Died peacefully, at Cummer Lodge, Toronto, on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, following a short illness. She was born June 12, 1919 in Alliston, Ontario, the first of five children of Edmund Carroll Whiteside and Edna Mildred Whiteside of Egbert, Simcoe County. Doris was the loving mother of Susan, Judith (Robert) and the late John Macklam. Survived by brother Glenn (Diane) Whiteside. Dearly loved by many nieces and nephews. Specially loved grandmother to Daniela (Matt) and Andrea (Rob) and great-grandmother to Ella and William. Predeceased by sister Elva and by brothers Ivan and Edmund (Ted) (Shirley) and by niece Nancy Lee Inglis. Doris was a loving matriarch of her family, with strength and a refined graceful manner with all. Doris possessed the insight to provide advice of value and the wisdom not to repeat it if unheeded. Doris enjoyed the benefits of a full and independent lifestyle into her 93rd year. Our loss of the brightness in her eyes and the ease of her smile will be sorely felt by all who loved her. Funeral service will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Saturday, March 31 at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Leaside and Rosedale Rooms of the funeral home.
